About The Hair Of The Dog

We are a well established micropub in Thanet and are proud to be joining the ranks of those who enjoy a real ale or cider in a friendly, safe environment.  Here you can find out all about the Hair Of The Dog in Minster, Thanet.

The idea of the Hair Of The Dog first came about when Gary Hake spotted a gap in the market in Minster for a place where people could enjoy a drink and a chat.  While all the local pubs were great, friendly and welcoming, none could offer a “talking area”.  All had music, sport, quiz machines or other entertainment – all perfectly acceptable and “pub-like” but not what Gary was looking for – a friendly local pub with good beer at a good price and lots of conversation.  This the idea for a micropub in Minster was born.Gary Hake

We are located in the High Street in Minster-in-Thanet.  The pub was converted from a hairdresser’s shop – something that has been in place since the Second World War !! – hence the name of the pub.

Run by owners Gary Hake & Julie Beaney, we’d love to see you pop in and have a drink or two with us.  Children are welcome as are dogs – treats are available free of charge (for the dogs, not the kids !).

Serving 3 constantly changing real ales and many ciders as well as wines, prosecco, tea, coffee & soft drinks, we look forward to your company.
